Brooklynn embodied the essence of a typical, joyful, and seemingly healthy 12-year-old girl. She adored Stitch, axolotls, and gnomes, finding delight in their whimsical charm. Her passions ranged from running and painting to participating in Bible Quiz and indulging in arts and crafts activities. However, on July 21, 2023, Brooklynn's world changed when she received a diagnosis of stage 4 Osteosarcoma. Despite a valiant fight, marked by intensive but unsuccessful high-dose chemotherapy, Brooklynn peacefully gained her wings on October 27, 2023.
Before departing, Brooklynn entrusted her mother with a solemn promise - to establish a foundation in her name, dedicated to supporting other children battling cancer. Her desire was simple yet profound: to alleviate the suffering of fellow young warriors. At TBMF, we honor Brooklynn's legacy by striving to bring smiles, raise awareness, and advocate fiercely for those engaged in the fight against cancer.
This initiative marks the genesis of our nonprofit foundation. Inspired by Brooklynn's love for giving and receiving gifts, Brooklynn's BAGs fulfills her heartfelt wish to provide personalized gifts to children battling cancer. Each bag is thoughtfully curated with handpicked items tailored to each child's unique preferences and needs. Additionally, a handcrafted item adds a personal touch, symbolizing the love that goes into every bag. Brooklynn wanted to include her dear friends Ava and Gabriel in her foundation so the BAGs in the program stands for Brooklynn, Ava, and Gabe, three innocent children brought together by the same monster. Gabriel Wells, born July 19, 2012, was diagnosed with stage 4, high-grade Osteosarcoma in May 2023 and gained his wings on October 15, 2023. He enjoyed playing sports, collecting Pokémon, and being a great big brother. His contagious smile always filled a room and is dearly missed. In loving memory of Gabriel, whose foundation's mission is making children as comfortable as possible during their hospital stays by providing blankets, each BAG sent out will contain a blanket in addition to the other items personally picked for each warrior. Along with his family, we hope this brings comfort during a difficult journey.
Designed to support parents of children receiving hospice care, this program offers a moment of connection and respite amidst challenging times. We understand the difficulty of prioritizing relationships while caring for a critically ill child. The Couples Care Kit provides a comforting opportunity for parents to nurture their bond from the comfort of home, recognizing the importance of sustaining connections during times of adversity.
This program honors the memory of courageous children who have bravely faced critical illnesses. Through our Forever in our Hearts initiative, we offer heartfelt gifts to their families on the anniversary of their child's passing, known as their Angelversary. These gifts serve as a touching tribute to the enduring spirit of their beloved warrior, providing solace and remembrance during moments of reflection.
Even a modest monthly contribution or a one-time gift can help provide a meaningful present to a courageous child battling illness. You can donate or create your own fundraising campaign below.
If you possess creative skills, consider crafting items such as painted, knitted, crocheted, or sewn goods. Brooklynn's wish was for each gift to include at least one handmade item. Every donation, regardless of size, will be utilized and greatly appreciated.
Each care package, box, or memorial gift requires various items to be purchased. We welcome donations of craft supplies suitable for children of all ages, games for individuals or couples, blankets, toys, stuffed animals, and more.
Throughout the year, we organize numerous events where volunteers play a crucial role. If you're interested in donating your time, please review our calendar and reach out to erikas@bmillerfoundation.org for further details and to schedule your participation.
